HISTORY OF THE AWARD:

Prussian Decoration for 25 Years’ Service in the State Railway Company (Erinnerungszeichen für 25 Jährige Dienstzeit der Bediensteten der Staatseisenbahnverwaltung), 1905-1918 - Silver stamped insignia in the form of a winged railway wheel, the Prussian crown above, a laurel wreath below bearing a rectangular plaque with the figures ‘25’; the reverse plain with pin for wear and rectangular maker’s cartouche inscribed ‘JOH. WAGNER & SOHN / BERLIN. W.’, silver half-moon and crown hallmarks to the left, ‘800’ silver purity mark to the right. Dimensions: 53 × 43 mm, weight: cca 11 grams. The Decoration was instituted on 27 January 1905 by Emperor and King Wilhelm II. for faithful fulfilment of duties. Recipients were awarded at Prussian State Railways after 25 and 40 years of service. The awards were made by the Minister der öffentlichen Arbeiten (Minister of Public Works). Military time was taken into account in the calculation. The design comes from the emperor himself who made a sketch according to how the decorations should be designed.
