HISTORY OF THE AWARD:

Saxony - Silver Medal for Loyalty in Work (Silberne Medaille für Treue in der Arbeit), King Friedrich August III issue, 1904-1918 - Circular silver medal with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with the head of King Friedrich August III facing right, circumscribed ‘FRIEDRICH AUGUST KÖNIG V. SACHSEN’; the reverse inscribed ‘FÜR TREUE IN DER ARBEIT’ within a circular oak wreath. The medal was instituted on 10 August 1894 by King Albert to reward those who from their 25th birthday had completed 30 years’ continuous and unbroken, blameless and patriotic service with one and the same employer (‘nach vollendetem 25. Lebensjahre 30 Jahre ununterbrochen in einem und demselben Arbeits- beziehentlich Dienstverhätnisse gestanden hatten nd unbescholten und königstreu gesinnt waren’). With the accession of King Georg in 1902 and of King Friedrich August III in 1904 the medal continued but each time with the portrait of the new monarch on the face. The medal was suppressed at the end of World War I in 1918.
