HISTORY OF THE AWARD:

Bavarian Jubilee Medal of the 2nd Infantry Regiment “Kronprinz” (Jubiläumsmedaille an das 2. Infanterie Regiment “Kronprinz”) - Issued in 1932. Constructed of bronze; the obverse depicting two German infantrymen, circumscribed “KGL. BAYER. 2. INFANT. REGIMENT KRONPRINZ”; the reverse depicting the crowned royal monogram of Max Emanuel, circumscribed “MIT GOTT FVER KOENIG UND VATERLAND” (German - With God for King and Fatherland); on a loop for suspension; measuring 36 mm in diameter; weight: 22.4 grams. The award was instituted on 29 June 1932, under the protectorate of the last regimental owner Crown Prince Rupprecht of Bavaria, and awarded by the Association of former members of the 2nd Bavarian Infantry Regiment "Crown Prince" on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the renowned troop formation. All former regimental members who were in possession of civic honour rights were eligible to claim. There were about 1000 medals awarded, therefore it is considered a rare medal.
