HISTORY OF THE AWARD:

Saxony Reserve and Territorial Army Service Badge, II class (Dienstauszeichnung II. Klasse, Schnalle), 1874-1913 issue - Rectangular gilt metal badge; the face with the crowned cipher of King Albert centrally imposed, the inner edge of each side decorated with ball-tipped loops and centrally the Saxon rue motif. The badge was instituted by King Albert on 23 April 1874 and awarded to officers, doctors, non-commissioned officers and enlisted men on completion of their service with the Army Reserve or Territorial Army (Landwehr) and participation in at least one campaign. The badge was superseded in 1913.
