HISTORY OF THE AWARD:
Baden Jubilee Medal (Jubiläums-Medaille), 1902 - Circular coppered bronze medal with laterally-pierced ball suspension; the face with the head and shoulders portrait of Grand Duke Friedrich I in general’s uniform facing left on a ground of laurel leaves, the dates ‘1852 1902’ to the right; the reverse with the crowned Baden griffin rampant holding a shield bearing the arms of Baden above the inscription ‘REGIERUNGSJUBILÄUM S. K. H. des GROSHERZOGS FRIEDRICH von BADEN’ (Jubilee of the reign of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Friedrich of Baden). The medal was instituted on 25 April 1902 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the accession of Grand Duke Friedrich and awarded to those who had distinguished themselves in public service (‘in öffentlicher Tätigkeit Dientse geleistet haben’).
