HISTORY OF THE AWARD:

Saxony Long Service Silver Medal for Non-Commissioned Officers, III class for 9 years’ service (SACHSEN-Königreich. Dienstauszeichnung für Unteroffiziere, III Klasse, für 9 Dienstjahre), 1913-1918 issue - Circular silver medal with loop for ribbon suspension; the face with the crowned cipher of King Frederick Augustus III within a wreath of oak and laurel, circumscribed ‘Treue Dienste bei der Fahne’ (Faithful Service under the Flag); the reverse with the Roman numeral ‘IX’ (= 9). The medal instituted in 1913 in three grades, for 15, 12 and 9 years’ service, replacing the model introduced in 1874.
