HISTORY OF THE AWARD:

Wurttemberg - Commemorative Medal for Loyal Service in One Campaign (WÜRTTEMBERG - Kriegsdenkmünze für Treuen Dienst in einem Feldzug), 1866 - Circular medal of light cannon bronze with lateral loop for ribbon suspension; the face with the crowned cipher of King Karl centrally within a circular laurel wreath; the reverse with an Amazon shield imposed on crossed swords and inscribed ‘für / treuen Dienst / in einem / Feldzuge’ (for Loyal Service in One Campaign). The Medal was awarded on the occasion of a parade to mark King Karl’s birthday on 7 March 1867 to those who fought in the Austro-Prussian war of 1866 in which Wurttemberg, like other south German states, was allied with Austria.
