There were three grades of this wawrd: the 1st class is a gold-plated, green enamelled cross with green enamelled oak leaves wreath between the cross arms. The 2nd class is a silvered, green enamelled cross with no oak leaves wreath. The first class was awarded for 40 years' service, the 2nd class was awarded for 25 years' service. The III. Class award is known in two different forms. The 1st form has a recessed Geneva cross on the back - GES.GESCH.- (Legally Protected). The 2nd form was introduced in 1930 and has on the back of the laurel wreath on the edge of the raised font in 6 lines Edel -/- sei -/- der – Mensch -/- hilfreich -/- und -/- gut -. The 2nd form was also made of war metal (zinc alloy). Size: 28 x 40 mm, this award is not often seen.
